Society Garlic 'Glenside'
Tulbaghia violacea is a true garden stalwart, lovely for ground cover plantings, edging, pots or as an unusual addition to the kitchen garden. The leaves and flowers are edible and can be used to replace chives or spring onions in salads. Brush against the tidy foliage mounds to release a pungent garlic fragrance that is also reported to deter pesky mosquitos. A great bridging plant for sun and light shade.
How to grow
Full sun, adaptable to a range of soil conditions. Drought and coast tolerant once established. Remove spent flower spikes at ground level to encourage repeat blooms.
