Spinach 'Malabar Red' Climbing
A heat loving, highly decorative screening plant with twining red stems and succulent leaves for stir fries.
How to grow
When the weather warms up, this glossy leaved vine grows rapidly to produce edible shoots. Start seeds off indoors and transplant to the garden in late spring/ early summer after any risk of frost has passed. Train plants up a fence, trellis or Teepee. Leaves and growing tips can be cut all summer and used in salads, or make the most of their mucilaginous texture, by adding them to soups and stews to act as a thickener.
