Sea Lavender
With everlasting purple-blue papery flowers ageing to white, Sea Lavender is known for its tough, resilient nature and ability to produce flowers almost all year round. Its leathery, wavy foliage makes a handsome evergreen mound above which tall flower spikes float like a sea of lavender. This versatile plant will take all the heat, drought and exposure that our southern summers can inflict, and is a must-have for all sun-baked, dry, windy and salt-licked gardens. Great for the bees and as a long-lasting cut flower.
Full sun, free-draining soil in open or exposed sites including hot and frontline coastal positions. Frost and drought-tolerant once established. Flowering stems are long lasting in the garden and vase, cut back when completely dried. Protect from root rot by not overwatering and ensure good air circulation to prevent mildew. Resents root disturbance, best propagated by seed.
