Sawtooth Oak
An attractive wide-spreading shade tree with chestnut-like bristle-toothed foliage that showcases beautiful colour throughout the seasons, changing from gold in spring to dark green in summer and back to gold in autumn. Inconspicuous yellow-green catkins appear on the branches in spring as the leaves are emerging. Dark grey to reddish brown furrowed bark offers winter interest and the oval acorns are a valuable food source for birds and small mammals, though trees may take up to 10 years to crop. Fast growth rate.
Plant in full sun. Grows well in a range of soil types and conditions. Drought tolerant once established.
