Salvia 'Marine Blue'
The ultra-marine blue flowers sit comfortably above the bluey-grey leaves of this well behaved compact summer-peaking salvia. We have trialed it at Heronswood where it is the first salvia to start flowering, going right through the summer and into autumn. Perfect foreground plant for the grey border or as a contrast to coloured foliage and flowering companions in a sunny position.
How to grow
Plant in full sun in well drained soil. Drought tolerant once established, also copes well with cold conditions and light frost. Prune back by half after flowering has finished to maintain a compact growth habit. Remove spent flowers regularly to promote repeat flowering.
