Salvia 'Aztec Blue'
This low-growing salvia is the bluest of deep blues. Dainty trumpet-shaped flowers are held elegantly on upright dark burgundy stems. Foliage emerges in deep purple, maturing to olive-green with a bronze tinge, with best colouring in a full sun position. Perfect hardy plant for the front of a garden bed or for use as a contrasting long-flowering ground cover.
How to grow
Tolerant of light shade, but performs best in full sun where foliage will retain lovely plum hues (greener in shade), aging to olive green. Prefers free draining soil. Deadhead regularly to prolong flowering. Foliage generally remains year round in warmer climates but should be cut back by half in late winter or early spring to maintain a compact habit.
