Queensland Kauri Pine
Dating back to the Jurassic age, the Queensland kauri pine was highly prized and culled for timber in early settler days in northern Queensland. Despite its tropical origins, it is now well established as far south as Heronswood in our dry soil. Unlike typical conifers, this native pine has glossy wide leaves. It produces large green cones as big as oranges. Ideal as an impressive feature tree. Moderate growth rate.
How to grow
Plant in full sun, protect from frost when young and water regularly during establishment.
