Pink Statice
Brilliant pink papery flowers on erect stems blooming for months from late spring above a rounded mound of deep green leathery leaves. A hardy plant thriving in both the extremes of heat and cold, withstanding scorching summer sun, coastal exposure and harsh inland winter frosts. Deadhead to promote flowering.
How to grow
Plant in full sun, in a free-draining soil. Suitable for open or exposed sites including hot and frontline coastal positions. Frost and drought-tolerant once established. Flowering stems are long lasting in the garden and vase. Protect from root rot by not overwatering and ensure good air circulation to prevent mildew. Resents root disturbance. Best propagated by seed. Divide every 3-4 years to maintain plant vigour.
