Olive 'Verdale'

Olive 'Verdale' originates from the south of France and produces large, bright green olives with a pleasant flavour. The history of the Verdale olive variety is not well-documented, but it is thought to have been cultivated throughout the Mediterranean for centuries. It has the most silvery foliage of all the olives and can be planted for its ornamental value alone. Ideal for use as a feature, hedging or shade tree and great for pickling as a table olive.

How to grow

Growing in a wide range of Australian conditions, olives are tolerant of poor soils, but grow best in a well-drained fertile soil. Fertilise in spring and summer and water during flowering and fruit set if required. Self compatible, plant more than one to increase pollination.
