Leek 'Mammoth Blanch'
Awarded the RHS Award for Garden Merit in 2011, this leek is a real show stopper. Long, thick white shanks are sweet, tender and tasty. Described as "the perfect leek" by our restaurant manager who gave it 100% in taste tests. Great in the garden too. Can be picked early or left in the ground to extend the harvest period and produce huge exhibition worthy specimens. Resistant to bolting.
How to grow
The tastiest leeks grow in nutrient rich soil, with a pH close to neutral. Transplant tall seedlings into 10cm deep holes to ensure a long shank, or hill them up with straw as they grow.
