This French heirloom from 1853 has short wide shanks and fan-like grey leaves in heavy frost areas. It’s the best ornamental leek for a vegetable parterre. Great in stocks or casseroles because of its robust flavour. Wash thoroughly before use.

ORGANIC! This French heirloom from 1853 has short, wide shanks and fan- like, yellow-green leaves. Fast growing, this is a great variety for beginner green thumbs.
How to grow
The tastiest leeks grow in nutrient rich soil, with a pH close to neutral. Transplant tall seedlings into 10cm deep holes to ensure a long shank, or hill them up with straw as they grow.
