Hibiscus 'Cranberry'

A show-stopping edible and ornamental, Hibiscus Cranberry (Hibiscus sabdariffa) stuns with its deep purple foliage and vibrant red calyces. This fast-growing, heat-loving annual brings striking colour to the garden while producing tangy, cranberry-like pods, perfect for teas, jams, and syrups. Thriving in warm climates, it flourishes in full sun and well-drained soil, with delicate hibiscus flowers giving way to plump, deep red calyces. High in antioxidants and vitamin C, it’s both a visual delight and a nutritional powerhouse.
How to grow

Thrives in warm climates (24–30°C), requiring full sun and well-drained, slightly acidic soil (pH 5.5–6.5). Water moderately, fertilize with balanced nutrients, mulch for moisture retention, and prune for bushy growth. Watch for aphids and whiteflies; avoid root rot by ensuring good drainage. Calyxes are ready 3–4 weeks after flowering (120–180 days from planting). Leaves are edible when young.
