Galangal - Potted plant
Evergreen in warmer climates, foliage may die back in cooler climates in winter and reshoot in the spring.
How to grow
Galangal needs a warm, sheltered, frost-free position in partial or full shade, and is best dug up yearly to prevent overcrowding. Requires well drained soil to prevent rot. Reduce watering over winter. Rhizomes can be harvested carefully year-round after growing for one season. Enrich soil with compost and slow release fertiliser prior to planting.
