Feijoa syn. Pineapple Guava

Highly aromatic and delicious torpedo-shaped fruits are produced in abundance from fluffy red and white flowers with edible petals. A tough screening shrub, hedge or small tree, feijoas are drought-tolerant once established. Queen Victoria is rumoured to have adored them. Try them yourself and you’ll be enchanted by their unusual flavour.
How to grow

Feijoas are drought hardy shrubs, and even though they can grow in harsh sites and soils, they do best planted in a soil enriched with well-rotted compost and decomposed manure. Water regularly to help roots establish in the soil, and periodically throughout summer to improve fruiting. Apply supplementary applications of organic fertilisers, such as pelletised manure, rockdust and Fruit & Citrus Fertiliser in spring and summer. Self-pollinating though it is recommended to have multiple trees for improved pollination.
