Fairy's Fishing Rod 'Blackbird'

Dierama pulcherrimum

Large, trumplet shaped claret-purple blooms dance like lures along delicate arching stems, evocative of a fishing rod dangling serenely by a pool. Also known as 'Angel's Fishing Rod' or 'Fairy's Wandflower'. Evergreen clumps of fine strap-leaf foliage anchor the impossibly fine flower stems. Simply stunning in pots, by a pond or as a garden feature where even the gentlest breeze will provide a rhythmic effect of swaying flower wands.

Fairy's Fishing Rod 'Blackbird'

Fairy's Fishing Rod 'Blackbird' is an offspring from the darkest shade of Dierama and makes a breathtaking feature in any garden position or style. Allow adequate space for the graceful flower spikes to arch above its evergreen foliage for maximum impact. Particularly spectacular dangling over water, or as a specimen in a large vase indoors. Fairy's Fishing Rods add whimsy and beauty with their elegant structure and are tough, easy care plants that tolerate a wide range of climate and soil conditions.
How to grow

Plant in a sunny position in fertile soil that is moist yet free-draining . Plants may take a couple of seasons to establish before flowering becomes abundant. Avoid root disturbance.
