Eggplant 'Casper'
The friendly ghost of eggplants, unusual white skin, delightfully sweet smokey flavour when grilled or roasted. Compact, just 40cm high, and high yielding - just perfect for small gardens. Yields roughly 9 fruit per plant. Harvest in 9 weeks from transplant.
How to grow
Eggplants require more heat than tomatoes, but similar conditions, and being slow growing, require a long, hot growing season. In frost free areas, eggplants can be treated as perennials, producing a few fruit for a few seasons. Their stiff branches will need staking in order to support the weight of the fruit. For maximum yield, pick the fruit as soon as it is ripe, when the skin is easily indented when light pressure is applied.
