Blueberry 'Denise'

Vaccinium corymbosum 'Denise'

A self-pollinating high chill blueberry with large tangy, mid-blue fruit, flushed red around the stem. A highbush variety with heavy yields that's popular with home gardeners, but not suited to commercial production due to the juicy fruit. Fruit has a distinct, tangy flavour that's great for cooking and eating fresh.

Blueberry 'Denise'

An Australian variety best suited to southern Australia. Fruits in December and January, giving your plenty of fresh fruit for the festive season. Prune to maintain a compact shape.
How to grow

High chill variety. Blueberries prefer an acidic soil with a pH of 4.5-5.5. Improve soils prior to planting with decomposed manure and compost. This is especially important in clay soils as blueberries prefer a free-draining soil high in organic matter. Check your pH and if you need to lower it further apply elemental sulphur. Plant in a sunny position protected from wind. Mulch with pine needles. Apply a complete fertiliser in spring. While tolerant of part shade, full sun is required for optimal fruiting. Self pollinating but may increase fruit set planted with another variety.
