Aster 'Lady in Black'
Bred by legendary Dutch plantsman Piet Oudolf, Aster 'Lady in Black' is an easy to grow and much sort after addition to perennial borders with its impressive dark foliage and a profusion of late summer/early autumn flowers which are a great source of nectar for bees and butterflies.
How to grow
Prefers a position in full sun but tolerant of some shade in hotter regions. Thrives in all soil types but resents poor drainage. Water during dry periods and dead head spent blooms to encourage flowering. Cut back flower stems during winter leaving a low mound of foliage to ensure fresh spring growth.
