Anemone 'Honorine Jobert'
Known fondly as ‘windflowers’, Japanese anemones are revered for their romantic free-flowing flowers borne on tall stems that sway gently in the breeze during late summer and autumn. Anemone 'Honorine Jobert' produces masses of pure white blooms with prominent yellow stamens and green centres, synonymous with the charm of a woodland landscape. The vine-like dark green foliage is also beautiful, forming soft mounds from which the tall self supporting stems protrude, holding the flowers well above the foliage. New growth appearing mid-late spring is useful to disguise dying foliage of spring bulbs. Plant in drifts under deciduous trees for maximum impact.
Plant in a semi-shaded position such as beneath deciduous trees. Suits all soil types apart from waterlogged and tolerant of coastal conditions. Provide supplementary watering during extended dry periods. Used to best effect when left to multiply in large drifts. Cut back spent flower stems in late autumn and propagate by division in early spring.
