Andropogon 'Prairie Blues'
An extremely ornamental garden-worthy silvery-blue grass with fine upright foliage and form brings appeal through the seasons with its delicate silver fluffy seed heads. from late summer to autumn, and its blue foliage aging to orange-red through to straw as autumn progresses. Also known as Little Blue Stem, Andropogon 'Prairie Blues' is breathtaking planted en masse and thrives in the summer heat and in dry conditions. It will also cope well with morning sun and afternoon shade. A perfect complement to summer flowering perennials with its contrasting colour and structural form.
How to grow
Plant in full sun or with morning sufternoon shade. Thrives in dry, sandy soils that are not overly fertile, but adaptable provided soil is well-draining. Drought and frost tolerant, low maintenance ethereal blue grass that needs no attention apart from an annual cut back in winter. New growth appears in spring and grows rapidly once the weather warms.
