Welcome to November!
Traditionally the busiest month of the year in the garden, the spring garden is in its prime. There’s still lots of work to be done to prepare your garden now for a long hot summer ahead.
November Jobs
#1 Sweet corn
Plant some sweet corn in your garden. Sow them in blocks rather than single rows for effective pollination.
#2 Rhizomes
Spice it up by planting rhizomes such as ginger, turmeric and galangal, and tubers like sweet potato and yacon.
#3 Plant fruit
Put in some delicious fruiting plants such as passionfruit, pawpaw, babaco and avocado.
#4 Add colour
Plant some annuals for summer colour. Pollinators and other beneficial insects will love them. Try some cosmos, verbena and marigolds.
