Welcome to January!

January Top Tips

#1 Lemongrass

Plant some lemongrass – this is decorative and delicious and is great used in soups and curries as well as in teas.

#2 Pests & Diseases

The heavy rains raise the humidity, and the warmth brings insects, so keep a lookout for any diseases or pests in the garden.

#3 Cuttings

Take cuttings from your perennial herbs - mint, bergamot, bee balm, thyme, rosemary and oregano will strike well

#4 Plant

Plant wet season crops like amaranth, kang kong, Ceylon spinach, asparagus pea, sweetcorn, taro.

Aphids, scale and ants

Watch out for aphids, scale & ants. This trio are linked together. They suck the juice from citrus and many other trees & plants with new leaf growth. Attract ladybirds and hoverflies to your garden with beneficial plantings: dill, fennel, Queen Anne's lace, cosmos.
