Nothing beats the flavour, freshness and nutrient density of home-grown vegies picked straight from you own garden, and in terms of living sustainably, nothing is better as it turns food miles into food metres. This Masterclass is designed to cover everything you need to know to set up and start your productive vegie patch in time for a bumper Autumn harvest.
What you will learn:
- Selecting right size and right position for your patch
- Vegie garden styles from in-ground, raised, wicking beds to container growing
- How to bring in the good bugs to help manage the bad and troubleshooting common problems in the garden
- All the vegie gardening essentials: soil, compost, irrigation, seasonal planting, seeds vs seedlings and much, much more

Your Presenter
Sophie Thomson is an Australian horticulturist, author, and television and radio personality from Adelaide. Sophie is a presenter on ABC's Gardening Australia and an ABC radio talkback host with extensive media experience. She writes for major newspapers and magazines and authors books on gardening.
With over 35 years of hands-on experience, Sophie now believes that aside from the obvious environmental benefits, gardening improves our physical, mental, and emotional well-being as well as that of the broader community.
Sophie lives at 'Sophie's Patch' - a three-acre property in the Adelaide hills. Over the last 11 years, the Patch now includes numerous contained spaces as well as a fully productive organic vegie patch with more than 100 fruit and nut trees.
Sophie is known for her resilience, environmental outlook, infectious enthusiasm, vitality, and love of sustainable gardening.
