Join this Critical Care for Fruit Trees masterclass and learn from expert fruit grower, Peter Allen all the most essential tips and tricks to nurturing, maintaining and protecting your fruit trees.

He will cover:

  • How to ensure good fruit & bud set this season and the next
  • The most critical periods for watering
  • The importance & correct use of swales
  • Organic Pest management for fruit trees
  • How to design your own netted enclosure that are fox, bat, possum, rabbit & bird proof (including an overview of the new netting laws in Victoria)

You will learn all the best care advice for your trees to help you create self-managed systems that will reduce your workload enormously.

There will be a 1/2 hr lunch break, feel free to bring your own lunch or you are welcome to order from the cafe.

Peter Allen was co-founder of the Heritage Fruit Society and ran the Petty’s Heritage Apple Festival & Collection for over 10 years, with Silvia he has established the biggest fruit collection in Australia of over 1000 varieties on their Biodynamic farm in Olinda/ Monbulk.

Teaching Permaculture Design Certificate and advanced fruit classes in the hills for over 20 years now, Peter has conducted 28 years of research on farm to use in his class notes plus travelled to 36 countries with fruit growing, he has run an Organic nursery for 15 years onsite. Peter & Silvia have taught classes for The Diggers Club in 4 states over last 15+ years.

The Location

In the heart of the Dandenong Ranges, Cloudehill is a stunning cool climate garden spread over 5 acres. From formal clipped hedges and topiary as you arrive, through to the comparatively relaxed bulb meadows, Cloudehill provides year round inspiration for the cool climate gardener.

The Diggers garden shop has a wide range of plants on offer and specialises in Diggers signature heirloom seeds and cottage flowers, complemented by a range of flowering shrubs and cool climate trees.
